ACTIVITIES MINISTRY

The challenge of the Activities Ministry is to keep and post an accurate up-to-date record of room assignments for scheduled meetings.  A calendar of events is placed in the box of each Ministry leader.

MEN’S MINISTRY

The goal of the Men’s Ministry is to give each man a new understanding and appreciation of the gospel, faith, prayer, stewardship, the social message, and world mission.  It helps him apply Christian principles in his home and vocation.

CHRISTIAN LIVING AND RESOURCES MINISTRY (CLR)

The Christian Living and Resources Ministry is designed to service the membership of Holman Street Baptist Church in particular and the Third Ward community in general in developing strategies to become good stewards of the financial blessings that are received from God. Using the Holy Word as the blueprint for success, the CLR ministry works as the catalyst for the economic growth and empowerment of the members that it serves.  (II Corinthians 8:9-24; 9:1-15; Malachi 3:7-10)

CHRISTIAN MUTUAL FUND

This ministry is designed to help members of Holman Street Baptist Church with the medical and funeral expenses.  You must be a member of the church to be a part of this ministry.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS MINISTRY

Community Relations Ministry is faced with the challenge of letting the world know that we are in this world but not of this world.  Our responsibility is to present excellence to those who do not know Christ, and to assist in improving community relations in and around the church, encourage voter registration, to inform members of special interest issues, attend city council meetings, public petitions and forums, and present community-oriented seminars.

CONCERNED PARENTS ASSOCIATION

The Concerned Parents Association (CPA) is composed of parents and interested adults who assist in providing financial support to the Youth of Holman Street Baptist Church.  It is involved in providing resource materials and parental seminars for the church family.

COUNSELING MINISTRY

This ministry is designed to give biblical and spiritual counseling to those who come before the church when the invitation is extended.  Counselors are HSBC members trained in the Word of God to assist the new Christian by confirming his intent and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

DECORATION MINISTRY

The purpose of this ministry is to beautify the sanctuary and Annex I for fellowship on annual and special days.  Other ministries of the church can call this ministry for assistance with decorations for their various functions.

EDUCATION MINISTRY

The Education Ministry is instrumental in promoting excellence in education through the Word of God.  Students are actively involved in Study Hall, Tutorial Programs, College and Career Days, Scholarship Banquet, Recognition and Awards Programs, TAKS Review, and College tours to enhance their education.

EVANGELISM MINISTRY

Jesus compels every born again Christian to go into all the nations and share the Gospel with others.  We are the arms that will reach out to the church body and the community to invite others to come experience the powerful walk they can have with Jesus the Christ. The Evangelism Ministry encompasses the soul Winning Action Committee (SWAC), Mission Circles and Jail Visitations.

SWAC- A branch of the Evangelism Ministry where Christian believers are sent out in teams of two to visit those in hospitals, nursing homes, and to knock on doors sharing The Plan of Salvation with anyone who will receive.  This ministry meets every 4th Saturday each month.

Mission Circles- A branch of the Evangelism Ministry that meets every 1st and 2nd Mondays each month and shares Christ with others in hospitals, nursing homes and private residences.

Jail Visitation- A branch of the Evangelism Ministry that goes once a month to the Women’s Unit of Harris County Jail to share Christ with the inmates and others.

PASTOR’S AIDE MINISTRY

The purpose of the Pastor’s Aide Ministry is to aid the Pastor and his family with current ministry needs.  This ministry leads the church in planning the activities and worship services for the Pastor and Family Annual Day.

SICK & BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY

The purpose of the Sick & Bereavement Ministry is to lift Christ Jesus as we comfort and encourage others in their time of need. Greeting cards, phone calls, prayer and visitations are extended to those that are sick and bereaved by the loss of a loved one.

SINGLES’ MINISTRY

The mission of the Single’s Ministry is to win others to Jesus Christ, and minister to their social and spiritual needs.  Our goal and focus is to establish a biblical foundation of salvation, and living according to the Word of God as a single Christian.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

The mission of the Sunday School is to teach the Word of God to both the Young and the old that we may learn of Him.  The mission of the Sunday School involves reaching out and sharing with others the Good News of the Gospel and encouraging them to hear and study God’s word.  “Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and they stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the Lord your God, and observe to do all the words of this law. –Deuteronomy 33:12

VISITORS’ HOSPITALITY MINISTRY

The purpose of this ministry is to let the love of Christ shine through to visiting churches, delegations, VIPs or whosoever comes through our doors on annual days, during revival or whenever called upon to do so.

YOUTH DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY

The Youth Discipleship Ministry (YDM) is designed to minister to he needs of young people between the ages of two (2) or thirty (30).  The YDM will actively practice the presence of Christ by serving Him others through the church.  The Ministry will seek to develop strong Christian leadership characteristics, individual self-awareness, and a wholesome interest in others.  This Ministry will develop a proper attitude concerning discipleship and the stewardship of living.

GREEKS FOR CHRIST

The purpose of this ministry is to provide a Christian witness among Greek member organizations and a positive role model for youth to succeed in school and in future careers.  This ministry also provides Fellowship between Greek letter member organizations and scholarships for youth.

HSBC MARCHING DRILL TEAM

The goal the Marching Drill Team is to teach and train young people through the unique ministry of witnessing as they are marching and drilling in the Word of God.

MARRIED MINISTRY

The mission of the Married Ministry is to enrich marriages.  This ministry focuses on strengthening and reviving marriages through seminar, retreats, and fellowships.  All activities are based upon the Word of God.

MEDIA MINISTRY

The Media Ministry is designed to catalog cassette tape recordings of all Sunday services, annual days, Tuesday Night Bible study and various church functions.  This ministry is also responsible for the cataloging of video tapes of annual days.

MEN OF CHRISTIAN MODEL (CMC)

The Men of Christian Model ministry is designed to provide guidance and role models for growing boys between the ages of 4-24 without residential fathers.  Models are Christian men ages 25 and up.

MUSIC MINISTRY

The Music Ministry consists of hand clapping, foot stomping, Holy Ghost filled, anointed voices praising God.  This ministry included the Male Chorus, Praise Warriors, Young Adults, Mass Choir, Mission Chorus, and the Youth Choir.  Praise is a vital part of worship.  The primary objective is to be used by God as instruments of praise and provide avenues of increased fellowship uplifting Jesus.

NURSE AIDE MINISTRY

The purpose of this ministry is to attend to the physical needs of members during Sunday services and to assist the ushers when needed.

ORIENTATION MINISTRY

The Orientation Ministry is designed to educated new members and endure that all members are on one accord in basic Bible doctrine.  The ministry entails nineteen (19) week cession plan of “five Steps to Christian growth.”
